I'm using Dreamweaver 8 to build this site.  I'm very impressed with the program; I had been using FrontPage for years as my website development tool.  After working with Dreamweaver awhile I can see why Microsoft pulled the plug on FrontPage

This site is currently running in a LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) environment.  I had looked at ASP years ago and opted at that time to focus my efforts on LAMP. I am now revisiting Microsoft web technologies since the release of ASP.NET.

I'm also using Fireworks and Flash to inject a little pizzazz into this site.  My design philosophy has always been to build fast-loading pages and to focus on content over style.  That was due in large part to living in a dial-up world.  Now that broadband is more widespread I feel more comfortable incorporating non-gratuitous graphics into websites.

Note, however, that I will be using CSS in lieu of graphics wherever possible. The navigational "buttons" above are rendered using CSS instead of using graphic buttons.  Fireworks and Dreamweaver make it easy to do graphical buttons but there is a lot of javascript required to make it work.  The CSS solution seems more elegant and maintainable.
