interrogatives

Questions can be formed by reversing the subject and verb, e.g., ¿Ha olvidado Vd. la palabra? - Have you forgotten the word? Note that the pronoun comes AFTER the past participle.

The equivalents of the English interrogatives.

which (ones) ¿cuál? ¿cuáles?
who/whom ¿quién? ¿quiénes?
how much ¿cuánto?  

Qué can also be used in exclamations, as in ¡Qué lastima! - What a pity!  If an adjective goes with a noun in such expressions the word tan (so) is usually put in for emphasis, e.g., ¡Qué cuadro tan feo! - What an ugly picture!

Cuál, meaning what? is used to reference things before a tense of ser, e.g., ¿Cuál es la fecha de su llegada? - What is the date of his arrival?
